Abstract

India, with its diverse cultural heritage and vast population, has a multifaceted education system that plays a pivotal role in national development. The importance of education in fostering socio-economic progress and reducing inequality is universally acknowledged. However, achieving these goals requires substantial and sustained investment in education.

The educational landscape in India has undergone significant transformations over the decades, driven by various policy initiatives and budgetary allocations. Understanding the dynamics of educational budgeting and its impact on educational improvement is crucial for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders. This study aims to provide an analytical perspective on the educational budget of India, examining its evolution, current trends, and impact on the education system.

The objectives of this study are threefold. First, it seeks to analyze the historical and current trends in educational budgeting in India. Second, it aims to assess the impact of these budgetary allocations on different aspects of the education system, including access, equity, quality, and infrastructure. Third, the study intends to provide policy recommendations for optimizing educational budgets to enhance educational outcomes.

The structure of this paper is designed to systematically address these objectives. It begins with a literature review, providing a theoretical framework and contextual background. The methodology section outlines the research design and data collection methods used in the study. The subsequent sections delve into the analysis of educational budgets, their impact on access and equity, quality of education, and regional disparities. Case studies of successful initiatives and a comparative analysis with other countries provide further insights. The paper concludes with policy recommendations and future prospects for educational funding in India.
